The problem
Upcounting does taxes and accounting for Shopify stores. Over a hundred of them. Every client needed the same thing: data pulled from Shopify, transformed into usable reports, delivered in a format they could understand. The work was repetitive. The process wasn't.
Each new client meant days of manual setup: connect the store, pull the data, build the spreadsheet, format the report. The steps were familiar, but nothing was standardized, so every onboarding turned into its own small project. Column names didn't match between clients, data structures differed, and a fix for one client never carried to the others. At 100+ clients, that math stops working.
The team wanted to build a report once and deploy it everywhere: onboard a new store in minutes instead of days, with data consistent enough that an improvement for one client could roll out to all of them. Google Sheets couldn't give them that.
The build
Orbit built an application that handles client onboarding end to end. Enter the Shopify store's contact email, select which data templates to pull, and the system handles the rest: data infrastructure spins up automatically, transformations apply based on the selected templates, and outputs flow into reports that match a standard format. Every client gets the same schema, the same column names, the same structure, strictly typed, with no manual formatting and no drift between clients.
That means onboarding 100 clients in hours instead of days, building a report once and copying it to every other client with a single filter change, and improvements that finally compound instead of resetting with every new account.
Where it stands
The system works. Onboarding that used to take days now takes minutes, and reports that used to be bespoke can be templated and deployed across the entire client base. The engagement paused before full rollout, but the capability is in place: infrastructure that can handle Upcounting's current 100+ clients and grow past it without adding manual work per store.
- 100+ Shopify stores managed on one system
- Days → minutes client onboarding time
- 1 template that works for every client, zero drift
When your business model is doing the same thing for a hundred clients, the question is whether you build a system or keep doing it by hand. Upcounting now has the system.
